If you are in need of additional home heating, either because you have recently added on rooms or your central heating does not provide sufficient heat, you may want to look into installing plinth heaters. A plinth heater is also often referred to as a baseboard heater, and as the name implies it is usually set into the baseboard or below cabinets in a room.  It does jut out a little into the room, but with the modern designs available it does not look out of place even in the best decorated room.

They usually have a grill over the front, which can oftentimes be painted the same color as your walls, furniture or the baseboard if you are not happy with the original color. This will help it to blend in much better, though many people do not feel that it is necessary to try to disguise the heater in this way.

These heaters really do work very well. They run on electricity and most have a small fan that pushes warm air out into the room.  While they do take a while to initially heat a room, they do a very good job of keeping the room well heated once it reaches the ideal temperature. They are relatively noisy, pretty much out of sight and they are very energy conserving. They are also much safer than regular portable heaters that stand in the middle of the room. They cannot be knocked over and the small grill in front will keep little fingers or other objects away from fan blades and heating elements.

Plinth heaters are also often used in offices, reception areas and in shops. They really are some of the best home heaters when it comes to providing additional heating to a room. For smaller rooms they may be all the heating that is needed, providing that you buy one that is calculated to be large enough to heat up the entire room.  They warm the floor area and then gradually warm the air in the rest of the room as the warm air rises.  Cheap and easy to install, they have been the answer to many homeowners additional heating needs.
