Have you just bought your new pine bedroom furniture? Feels good, doesn’t it? But don’t be too happy yet. Finding and buying the perfect set of furniture for your bedroom is just the first step. While it is an important first step, the real complication begins now – getting your brand new furniture from the shop to your bedroom.
You may be thinking, “I’ll just pay the shop to deliver the furniture.” But things are not really that simple. Whether you are buying premium furniture, cheap MDF furniture, or hard steel furniture, there are some issues you need to consider:
- How to get your new furniture home without any damage
- Ensuring your existing furniture does not suffer any damage
Getting your furniture delivered from the shop to your doorstep is likely the easiest part. This much is part of the basic delivery service of most furniture shops. But do note how much is NOT included:
- Moving the new furniture into your home
- Moving the new furniture into your bedroom
- Disassembling your old bedroom furniture
- Getting rid of your old bedroom furniture
- Assembling your new bedroom furniture
If your new bed and wardrobe are not fitted bedroom furniture, installation and assembly may not be such a big deal. But what about your existing (old) furniture? Is it fitted? Even if it is not fitted furniture, can it be removed and disposed of without any disassembly?
If your bedroom is on the first floor of your house, getting it moved in may not be such a big issue, especially if you have a bunch of athletic friends. But if you, and your friends, are the sort that spend most of your time in the office in front of your desks, this is something you should really think about. And if you are a woman and do NOT have any fit, athletic men friends, this is something I should not have to tell your to think about.
Making sure your existing furniture does not suffer any damage is something too few people think about when they buy new furniture. Remember that when you move your new bedroom furniture in, you need a clear path from the main door to your bedroom. The same goes for when you move your old furniture out – you also need a clear path from your bedroom door to your main door.
“Clear path” means, at the very least, not toys, loose rugs, or anything else that could possibly trip up whoever is moving the furniture. It also means not having anything fragile in the vicinity, for example your precious stereo or 60-inch television set, or your wine or whisky collection, etc.
When you buy your pine bedroom furniture package, remember to think about how to get it into your bedroom. Remember to also think about how to clear your bedroom before you receive your new furniture. A good furniture shop should be able to provide you with a checklist of things to look out for. You may also want to seriously think about paying for their premium delivery service if it means that they will take care of all these headaches for you.
