Lowes Shutters May Be More Expensive than Home Depot Plantation Shutters

Admittedly it can be sometimes difficult, especially when differing pricing schemes are used, to figure out what gives you the best value for your money. It is important to look into things, sometimes in detail, when you are making large purchases to make sure that there are no hidden costs attached to items.

A simple case in point is the different pricing structures of Lowes and Home Depot for plantation shutters. Home Depot plantation shutters are measured by the square foot.  If your window is 60 inches by 48 inches you will pay for 20 square feet of shutters.  Shutters are priced per square foot, making it very easy to determine how much you will pay.

On the other hand, the same shutters at Lowes could cost you significantly more, depending on the pricing grid used. For example, if they charge the same price for all shutters measuring 60 inches x 48 inches or 65 inches x 48 inches, and your window was actually 60 x 48 you would end up paying the more expensive 65 inches x 48 inches price. While this difference with Lowes plantation shutters may not be very much if you are just buying one small shutter, if you are planning on installing shutters on all of your windows, that added amount would definitely add up quite a bit.

Of course there are many other factors that affect the price of plantation shutters, including the material the shutters are made from, the design and features and even the brand of shutter. However, the point is that you do need to carefully analyze the cost of shutters before you go ahead and make your final purchase.

One easy way to compare is to find similar shutters at both stores and go through the whole ordering process for them, to the point of actually checking them out. That way you can easily compare prices and see where you will get the best deal.
