How would you like to save money from all the expenses you could have?  That’s not a problem at all.  Learning how to do simple plumbing repairs will relieve you from headache and will save you time and money as well.  Having the basic knowledge of plumbing jobs, you can readily act on the plumbing inconvenience before it would soak your carpets or damage your dry walls.  Calling a plumber at midnight would not be required. Once you’ve done something like doing your own garbage disposal repair on your batch feed garbage disposal, you’ll have the confidence to tackle other jobs.

These are some tips how to do easy plumbing repairs.

You may think that draining the plumbing system is a job that only a professional plumber can do.   But you need not to call a plumber to do that; you can do it on your own.  If there’s a need for you to drain the plumbing system when there’s a problem in water supply or you need to get other things fixed, then you can follow these quick steps.

First, you locate the central water meter and shut off the water.  On the meter, there are two valves found, one is attached to the pipes that supply water to the home and the other valve is connected to the pipes that lead the water outside the house.  You need to shut off that second valve that leads the water outside.

Next, you get into your home and turn on all the faucets on the sinks starting from the highest section of the house.  Then after all the sink faucets have been turned on, repeat the same with the showers.  Then do same process when flushing the toilets still from the highest section in the house down the bottom.  When the draining process has been done, you can now begin repairing other plumbing worries.

If the problem is on getting a clogged toilet and nonworking drain, as long as there’s no septic system, you can try treating the clogs using chemicals.  Most of these solutions are similar to what the plumbers would use.  If it works then you will be able to save from the expense of getting a plumber to do that for you.  You can also use the snake tool to remove the obstruction.

Do not work on the plumbing problems if you can’t handle them, you might just make the matters worse and instead of saving money you might lead the problems to more expensive plumbing repairs.  If the plumbing disasters are out of your capacity then you better call a plumber than try fixing them on your own.
