Counter Stools And A Breakfast Bar – Simple Dining

You might have noticed that over the last few years there seems to have been a move by many people to make use of stylish counter stools when decorating their kitchen. In the past we seemed to prefer a real table and chairs when creating a dining area but these days the breakfast bar and kitchen stools seems to be the set up of choice for many, especially the young. I think the reason has got a lot to do with the fact that we are living in smaller spaces these days.

If you have a kitchen the size of a postage stamp you have no choice but to make the best of what you have got. A large table is unusable in such circumstances, even if you can get it into the room you are not going to be able to use it effectively. A breakfast bar can provide an eating area for a family of four in a very small space and when not in use you can slide the bar stools under the counter to ensure that you have as much floor space as possible when going about your daily business.

Another reason I can see for the rise of the kitchen stool would be the fact that we have gone a change of lifestyle over the last few decades. Many people no longer sit down as a family to eat dinner, instead they just eat when they have time, and are happy to perch themselves on a stool for 10 minutes until they have shoved some food down their throat. Not only that but more and more we are living along. Individuals are waiting until their thirties to get marries which means they have a small flat in the city that they call home. In such circumstance installing a table and chairs can seem like a waste and a breakfast bar can seem perfectly ample as a place to eat any meal.

So, you are lacking in space, or just don’t fancy a table, or maybe you are seduced by the style of the funky kitchen counter stools you have seen in you friends house. Whatever the reason, buying a bar and a few stools is a perfectly acceptable way create a dining area in your home, and its much cooler anyway, whatever your parents say about it.
