Chandelier lighting has been popular since the 1800s. Back in those times electricity was a luxury that only few could afford, and these grand chandeliers acted as a focal piece and a way for the owner to show off. They would illuminate grand halls and entranceways and cast light over stately events.

Fast-forward to modern times and having a chandelier isn’t quite such an extravagant purchase. Sure you can still get the intricate handmade crystal ones, but there is also a wide variety of trendy modern designs, even ones contain blue LEDs. What would the aristocracy of the 1800s have though of such designs I wonder?

One of the most popular types of chandelier of modern times is black chandelier lighting. Black is a very popular color for everything from cars to plasma screen TVs to chandeliers. The black hides the dirt and at the same time is a very elegant and stylish color. Black also goes with pretty much everything so no matter what décor you have in your home; you can guarantee that a black chandelier will go with it.

When you are looking at getting one of these types of lights you need to make sure that you home is equipped with a strong enough ceiling to hold the weight of it. The ceiling should also be high enough in the place you want the light to be so that you can pass under it. If you are hanging it over a dining table, you can afford for it to hand lower as people will not be walking underneath it. Also consider the design and how easy to keep clean it will be. If you let the dust gather on these things it can be quite tricky to clean off, so you need to make sure that you clean it regularly.

A black chandelier makes a fantastic addition to any home and you will be happy to walk in to a room with a grand light illuminating it. These can really be the icing on the top of a well designed room.
