Decorating the nursery may not be the very first thought a mom to be has after learning she is pregnant, but it certainly fills her mind soon enough. While decorating a nursery is lots of fun and exciting for the new parents there are a number of important things to be aware of when planning and decorating the nursery.
Since most parents will be starting from scratch with the nursery, safety should be the first priority. No matter how much you like something or how cute a particular item would look in the nursery, if it is unsafe, don’t buy it.
Cover all outlets in the nursery, and make sure that things like cords dangling from blinds are well out of reach of the baby. Keep in mind that once the baby begins to crawl around and explore his or her home, the entire house should be baby-proofed.

While choosing themed bedding can make decorating easier, it is simply an option not a requirement. I have seen lots of great pictures of nurseries that were decorated with lots of imagination and creative thinking.
